No Tav e Sioux uniti contro le grandi opere dannose, inutili, imposte

NO DAPL

No Tav, No Dapl!

No Tav. No Dapl!

The Susa Valley, italy, with the Sioux people

The No Tav Movement of the Susa Valley (west of Torino, Italy), meeting in Council today, November 23rd, 2016, salutes and sends its solidarity to the brave Sioux people of Standing Rock and to the Indigenous Environmental Network fighting the construction of the Dakota Access Pipe Line on the sacred land of the Lakota.
Your cause, the protection of Mother Earth and of the waters which are her blood, is also ours.

For more than twenty years our Movement has been opposing the construction of a high-speed train line (Tav) from Torino to Lyon, France, which would devastate our valley and drain the public dept of our Country. The strong popular pressure has forced the industrial lobbies and the political parties to gradually cut the initial project and reduce it to one single giant tunnel of 36 miles under the Alps. Many are the governments that we have seen fall and many have been the politicians and corporate people arrested or prosecuted for corruption or other crimes related to the mismanagement of this and other Grand Projects throughout the years while we are still here alive and kicking. Our goal is the definitive cancellation of the project

We are suffering from police violence, from the militarization of the Valley and the judicial retaliation: only a few days ago, 38 of our activists have been sentenced to a total 84 years of detention, and more than one thousand of us, as of today, are being prosecuted. But we have forced the developers to protect the construction site like a fort: razor wire, metal fences, concrete barriers, police and mountain troops ferried back from Afghanistan. Since 2011, when the construction site we were then occupying was stormed by the police, we are sieging the fort day and night with the strenght of our numbers, with our determination and with the support of all conscious citizens, of the environmental and civil rights movements.

In these past many years, we have learned that all Grand Projects are a theft of public funds, a sneaky way to provide with unaccounted money the party system and the mafias, and to feed corruption; we have learned that Grand Projects are often useless and always devastating for the environment; that the interests that support them have much to do with the structure itself of the political power; that media are used as weapons against any form of dissent because they belong to the same powers.
Brothers Sioux, our common foe is global capitalism which is destroying the Earth for material profit. We are walking on the same ground and starting today we commit ourselves at finding the most effective ways to support you.
Our hearts, our thoughts and prayers are with you. Aho Mitakiaoisin!

No Tav, No Dapl!
